On December 2nd, 2025, I had the privilege of participating in a pivotal high-level dialogue in Abuja: “Transport Climate Action: Boosting Business Leadership for Clean Air in Nigeria.” As the world shifts toward greener economies, the transportation sector remains at the heart of the climate conversation. In Nigeria, the intersection of mobility, economic growth, and environmental sustainability is more critical than ever. This event, supported by UK PACT and various international partners, brought together the brightest minds in policy, business, and environmental science to chart a sustainable path forward.

Why Business Leadership Matters

Transitioning to clean air is not just a government mandate; it is a business imperative. During the sessions, we explored how the private sector can take the lead in:

• Adopting Green Logistics: Reducing carbon footprints through smarter fleet management.
• Investing in Tech: Transitioning toward low-emission vehicles and sustainable fuels.
• Policy Advocacy: Working alongside regulatory bodies to ensure that “green” also means “growth” for Nigerian enterprises.

My Commitment to a Greener Nigeria

Throughout my career, I have advocated for safety and efficiency on our roads. Today, “safety” extends beyond preventing accidents—it includes protecting the very air we breathe. I am encouraged by the commitment shown by our partners at the Stockholm Environment Institute, the University of York, and the Clean Air Fund.
