Putting sportsmanship into the service of humanity, the President and Chairman of Council of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Nigeria, Dr. Boboye Olayemi Oyeyemi, participated in the highly anticipated 14th Annual Golf & Tour Charity Association (G&TCA) Tournament held in Makurdi, Benue State.
The multi-day event seamlessly blended elite sporting competition with impactful corporate social responsibility (CSR), rallying top executives, avid golfers, and philanthropists from across the country around a singular mission: supporting vulnerable communities and giving back to society.
A Competitive Drive with a Noble Mission
The tournament kicked off at the scenic Makurdi Golf Club on Thursday, June 11, with an executive “Meet & Greets” and practice rounds, setting a collaborative tone for the weekend.
The competitive edge of the weekend was fully realized during the formal tournament rounds:
- Day 1 (Friday, June 12): Featured a high-stakes, exclusive Shotgun format iteration strictly for G&TCA members.
- Day 2 (Saturday, June 13): Opened the green to a wider base of invited guests and partners, concluding with a celebratory Prize Presentation ceremony.
While the fairways provided plenty of sporting excitement, the true heart of the gathering lay in its core philosophy: “Golf with Purpose, Giving with Compassion, Empowering Vulnerable Children, and Building Hope Together.”
Touching Lives: The Outreach to Tivid Orphanage Home Int’l
In line with the event’s powerful theme, “Golfing for Humanity • Changing Lives Together,” the cornerstone of the tournament occurred on June 11, 2026, when the Golf & Tour Charity Association executed its 13th Annual Charity Outreach.
Dignitaries and members journeyed out of the club grounds to the Tivid Orphanage Home International, located along Lafia Road in North Bank, Makurdi. The association was warmly welcomed by the administrators and children of the home.
The outreach served as an avenue to donate essential relief materials, food stocks, and development resources to the orphanage. For leaders like Dr. Oyeyemi, participating in these initiatives underscores a lifelong commitment to humanitarian assistance and sustainable community empowerment—proving that true leadership extends far beyond professional boardrooms and onto the fields of societal welfare.
Swinging for Hope and a Stronger Tomorrow
The 14th G&TCA Tournament concluded on Sunday, June 14, leaving a lasting impression on the Makurdi community. The event successfully demonstrated how traditional sporting platforms can be leveraged as formidable catalysts for resource mobilization, advocacy, and social development.
Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi commends the Makurdi Golf Club Local Organising Committee (MALOC 2026) and the leadership of the Golf & Tour Charity Association for executing an exceptional event that balanced corporate networking with deep societal impact. Together, we continue to swing for hope, serve humanity, and transform lives.
