Championing Professional Excellence: Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi Celebrates New SAN

It was a privilege to witness an important milestone in Nigeria’s legal and professional landscape on Monday, September 29, 2025. I attended the swearing-in ceremony for the new batch of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) at the Supreme Court of Nigeria Complex, Abuja, and the subsequent reception. It was a day dedicated to honoring individuals who have demonstrated exceptional merit, dedication, and expertise in the legal profession, with a special focus on the conferment of the prestigious rank on Habeeb Abdulrahman Oredola, LL.M (UK), MCIArb (UK).

The event underscored a fundamental principle I’ve long championed in both my public service career at the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and my current role in transport and logistics: the indispensable value of professional excellence and institutional integrity.

The rank of SAN is the zenith of legal distinction in Nigeria, recognizing decades of commitment to the rule of law and an unwavering commitment to ethical practice. These are the same core values—dedication, integrity, and continuous capacity building—that guided my tenure as the Corps Marshal of the FRSC. To see the legal profession celebrate its best and brightest is an encouraging reminder that a steadfast focus on professionalism is the true bedrock of national development.

I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the newly sworn-in Senior Advocates of Nigeria, and in particular to Habeeb Abdulrahman Oredola. His journey, marked by extensive international legal training and arbitration expertise, is a testament to the power of continuous learning and specialization.

My connection to this event goes beyond mere attendance. As a leader deeply invested in the transport and logistics sector, and recently elected as the National President of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Nigeria for 2025–2027, I see a clear, essential link between a robust legal system and the smooth operation of our economy’s vital sectors. Strong, ethically-sound legal professionals like the new SANs are crucial for ensuring the fair administration of justice, protecting critical infrastructure, and solidifying the contractual frameworks necessary for investment and growth in transport, logistics, and supply chain management.

We must continue to foster a culture that recognises and rewards expertise across all fields—from law and public service to transport administration—as it is the collective strength of these professionals that will drive Nigeria’s progress.
